Batbox is privately located on the east side of our bungalow and about 65 metres from Lazybed and the car park. Access is via an undulating footpath through our woods and garden.
The accommodation has a compact, hand-crafted, well equipped kitchen plus dining table. There is a full size larder fridge, but no freezer (we can store items in our freezer if necessary). For cooking there is a Dualit mini-oven and a separate two ring induction hob. Please note there is no microwave.
The main living and sleeping area has oak flooring throughout with comfortable, functional hand crafted furniture. There is no TV reception, but there is a flat screen television with DVD player and an eclectic library of films to choose from plus a good selection of books. There is a wood-burning stove and electric wall heater. The cabin is insulated throughout with sheep's wool keeping it warm and cosy.
There is a standard size double bed with a comfortable mattress, good quality bed linen and one bath and hand towel per person. We offer a laundry service as there is no washing machine. There is a hair-dryer.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower, underfloor heating, toilet and wash hand basin.
If luggage space allows, we recommend that you bring along some indoor footwear. We ask you please to leave your shoes/boots outdoors, there is a storage box and coat hooks on the enclosed deck area.
The complimentary welcome pack includes a refreshing drink and treat. Essentials such as tea including herbal, fresh ground coffee, sugar, salt and pepper should last a couple of days. Staying for four nights or more? enjoy a complimentary, homemade, organic foccacia, at your request.
The cost also includes essentials such as bed linen, tea towels, kitchen cloth, bathroom towels, bamboo toilet rolls, Friendly soap and Ecover washing up liquid. We sell extra fire wood at £12/basket. There is no extra charge for electricity, mains water or Wi-Fi.
WiFi is available on site. There is a signal on the Batbox path and in the car park, not in the cabin. WiFi reaches inside Lazybed cabin. EV charging available for a small fee.
Why the name Batbox? Apart from our love for Pipistrelle Bats (and our gratitude they enjoy the odd midge for dinner!) the new build shape and its overhanging roof has more than a passing resemblance to (you've guessed it) a bat box! On summer evenings you may well see the local bats sweep back and forth in front of the cabin or hear the Tawny Owls that call Inverkirkaig their home. There are boxes hidden in the adjacent trees.
